A technology rapidly gaining ground worldwide

INGENICO keeps a constant watch on new technologies, with a particular focus on detecting those that will optimise the electronic transactions of tomorrow.

Contactless technology is one of them.

Mass transit authorities in numerous countries have already adopted this technology. Both retailers and the banks have become very interested in contactless payments and, after conducting successful pilots, have decided to roll the technology out on a broad scale.

Mastercard and Visa have been key drivers of this transformation.

Naturally, INGENICO has been involved from the outset in a number of contactless projects, and is currently taking part in several deployments in the United Kingdom, United States, Spain, Italy, France, Turkey and Lebanon – to name just a few countries where the technology has been introduced.

In 2006, the Group devoted 8 percent of its budget to researching and developing innovative products and solutions. Technology watch was intensified, and 17 new patent applications were filed. And to attain unparalleled expertise in the secure transaction field, INGENICO developed and rolled out a proactive research policy.

In addition, INGENICO has also rolled out new terminals – countertop, portable, mobile and contactless.  We also offer more sophisticated software designed to facilitate terminal estate management and application development, and to expand the software reach of INGENICO terminals.
