Ingenico and the environment

At Ingenico, we are deeply committed to corporate social responsibility and as such we take our duty to protect the environment very seriously.

Environmental protection and regulatory policy

In order to protect public health and the environment, Ingenico comply with the European directives affecting our industry:

- Products in line with RoHS ("Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances" 2002/95/EC):

This directive concerns eliminating the use of six harmful substances in certain electrical and electronic devices (at the drawing board) and thereby reducing the environmental impact of end-of-life products. Cutting down on the use of dangerous materials from the design stage also cuts down on recycling costs.

- Guaranteed management of end-of-life products (WEEE – "Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment", 2002/96/EC):
This directive on "waste" products is an addition to the previous directive (RoHS) and is designed to minimize the impact of electrical and electronic equipment on the environment, particularly at the end of their service life when they are no longer in use. To achieve this, manufacturers are required to organize the collection and treatment of all qualified products launched on the market after August 13, 2005.

Taking it to the next level

- Ingenico's goal is to design eco-friendly products for our customers and to continue to improve their "green" characteristics. While complying with the two environmental directives described above is a major concern for the Group, we are also working to limit the impact of our business on the environment at every stage of the product lifecycle. A multi-criteria system is used to evaluate this impact.
